The well sampling has.L .I delayed due to the 3 phase, 240 volt, .✓er requirement of the pump
which needs a much larger trailer mounted generator and the site is now inaccessible to large
trucks and trailers due to the new driveway location and the 3 foot high cut bank west of the new
driveway. Some of the complications come about because the City of Manteca moved the
driveway about 100 feet south of its previous location where there was a compacted and
hardscaped access on the site. Mia noted this cutbank on our site visit last week with the Manteca
Fire Dept. This new driveway alignment leads up due south of the house and this alignment needs
to be graded down back into the lot and compacted for access. We should also grade and compact
the truck and trailer parking, chem storage and nonhazardous dumpster areas at the same time. So
a more comprehensive plan needs to be drawn up to take these elements into consideration.
To complicate matters further George Reed is contracted with the City of Manteca's public works
to install sidewalks on the west side of Union during the next two weeks (this is from telephone
interview today with George Ground at City Manteca Public Works, Senior Inspector, 209-639-
5965). When these sidewalks are installed (which is scheduled for Jan 2-11, 2008 weather
permitting), the concrete will need four weeks to reach 100% strength before any heavy trucks
are allowed. He suggested that if we wanted quicker access after two weeks the concrete is at
about 70% strength and if we installed several inches of sand we could then steel plate over the
driveway and sidewalk without any encroachment permits needed. Mr. Ground did not support
jumping the curb to the north at the old alignment because of the thinner concrete (4") of the
sidewalk, but the sidewalk in the new driveway area will be thicker(6"). Additionally he was
concerned about exiting truck tires tracking dirt and sand off the site and wanted us to know that
there are City ordinances in place making this enforceable and that we should consider an
improved construction entrance with dust removal systems to eliminate tracking onto public
ROW's.
Based on this it looks like February 1 st is the earliest date we could access the site with heavy
equipment to start the grading and compaction. In light of these difficultiies, I will be formally
requesting an extension in the monthly summary report for the delivery of the HazCat Plan. We
have two bids from contractors and I would like several more. We also have the site Safety
Office/CIH identified.
We are prepping the monthly summary report and getting ready for the client teleconference
tomorrow.
Mia, will you review and forward to Sam and Kacey.
David K.Wood,Principal
PG#6532,CHG#802
Aperio Inc.
Environmental and Geological Consultants
3282 E.
