Box 173400
Denver, CO 80217-3400
GROUND WATER INVESTIGATION, LEPRINO FOODS, TRACY, SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
I have reviewed the Revised Monitoring Well Installation Work Plan submitted for the Leprino
Foods facility at 2401 MacArthur Drive in Tracy. The revisions proposed in the work plan
adequately address the concerns expressed in our 18 August 1994 letter. In accordance with
Cleanup and Abatement Order No. 94-704, the Problem Assessment Report is due by
1 December 1994.
As I discussed with you on 29 August 1994, interim remediation of the ground water is
necessary before the full extent of ground water contamination is determined. Your 2 September
1994 letter stated you are investigating the feasibility of free product recovery pumps to facilitate
interim remediation efforts. Because you have discontinued extraction from EXW-1, an alternate
interim remediation must be implemented as soon as possible. Therefore by 30 September 1994,
you are required to submit a proposal for free product removal. The proposal shall include a
schedule for implementation in the near future.
If you have any questions, please call me at (916) 255-3048. J
J
POLLY LOWRY
Associate Engineering Geologist
PAL:lsb
cc: San Joaquin Public Health Services, Stockton
Mr. Roy Greengrass, Leprino Foods, Tracy
Mr. Bruce Hilton, Kleinfelder, Sacramento
