1
' 1.0 INTRODUCTION
' The Leprino Foods Company (LFC), Tracy Facility is located at 2401 MacArthur Drive in Tracy,
California. The site location is shown on Figure 1. Leprino's recommendations to abandon
' groundwater monitoring wells MW-1 and MW-12 were acknowledged verbally by Ms. Jessica
Hardy of the California Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board(CV-RWQCB),
with Mr. Robert Garcia of LFC and later verbally confirmed with Mr. Brendan Shine of HSI
' GeoTrans on August 19, 2000.
1.1 Background
' As a result of environmental impacts related to the release of diesel fuel, a remedial system of
groundwater monitoring and floating petroleum hydrocarbon recovery wells has been installed at
' the Leprino site. Construction of the recovery system was completed on May 17, 1996 and the
system was brought on-line on May 22, 1996. At the present time, the system is sampled and a
' quarterly report evaluating its performance is submitted to the CV-RWQCB.
' Monitoring wells MW-1 and MW-12 are located in an area that will be inaccessible in the future
due to plant construction. In the past, these wells have been used to provide data on hydrocarbon
product thickness near recovery well RW-5A. The need to replace these wells will be evaluated
' in the future, based on data generated during the quarterly monitoring programs. Well locations
are shown on Figure 2.
' 1.2 Work Plan Objectives
The purpose of this Work Plan is to describe procedures and methodologies to be used during
well abandonment. This Work Plan will be submitted to the CV-RWQCB for approval prior to
well abandonment permit application to San Joaquin County Public Health Services,
' Environmental Health Division.
(CAPROJECMLEPRINOWW AbarMonmem\Work Plm Rev 4.wpd) 1 HSIGEOTRANS
