•
I. INTRODUCTION
•• This Phase III Site Remediation Proposal is prepared by American Environmental
Management Corporation (AEMC) for Homestead Land Development Corporation
(HLDC) explaining procedures designed to excavate soil contaminated by diesel fuel at
• 27383 South MacArthur Drive, Tracy, California (site) The property, called Glenbriar
Estates, is located southwest of the intersection of Valpico Road and MacArthur Drive
(Figure 1)
0 The purpose of this remediation proposal is to respond to elevated hydrocarbon
concentrations detected during soil borings performed at a underground storage tank
(UST) excavation area located at the site Presented in this proposal is a brief explanation
of the specific geological and hydrological conditions found at the site, a description of the
type and amount of contamination present in the soil, a detailed proposal for removing the
affected soil with provisions for disposal, and recommendations for further site work, if
needed
BACKGROUND
The site is currently being used for private residences The site was originally an apricot
orchard/farm dating back to 1916 The three USTs on the site were used to fuel a small
trucking operation The three USTs located on the site were excavated and removed on
15 and 16 November 1990 Analyses of soil collected beneath two of the USTs indicated
they were free of detectable hydrocarbon concentrations These two USTs were positioned
in a common excavation on the property (designated T-1 and T-2 in Figure 2) Soil
i samples collected from the fill pipe end of the third UST (identified as T-3) exhibited
hydrocarbon contamination in a localized area at the fill pipe end of the tank The tank
removal operations were discussed in AEMC's "Permanent Closure of Underground
0 0 Storage Tanks" report submitted to San Joaquin Local Health District on 7 February 1991
rima 10(m14) Page 1
0 AMERICAN
[rJv.br+wENin4 Mnnn4EMi Ni CU/
