Carol Oz of the San Joaquin County Environmental Health <br /> Department was on site to observe the tank removal and direct the <br /> soil sampling. <br /> The bottom of TK1 was located at a depth of approxiniately. l3 :4 <br /> feet below the ground surface. Upon removal and inspection, the <br /> tank a g >, <br /> .„� appeared to be in' good condition and no holes 'or leaks were � <br /> noted. <br /> The native soil at the site is dark grey to black, organic <br /> rich, silty, fine grained sand to a depth of approximately 2 <br /> feet. From the 2 foot depth to the floor of the tank excavation, <br /> light brown, clay is present. Strong petroleum odors and <br /> grayish-green staining were noted at the- south end of the <br /> excavation =on the lower sidewalls and floor. Aetch of <br /> p grey <br /> stained soil was also noted in the piping trench, near the fuel <br /> dispenser (soil sample location SP-A) . Groundwater was not <br /> encountered during the tank removal . Following tank removal and ` <br /> soil sampling, the excavation was surrounded with temporary, <br /> Z. <br /> chain link fencing. <br /> 2.1 Soil Samples <br /> Two (2) soil samples were collected from the excavation <br /> following the removal of the tank.
