14 September 1998
AGE-NC Project No. 98-0454
3.4. REPORT PREPARATION
Upon completion of field work and receipt of final laboratory analysis, a report will be prepared
presenting the findings of the investigation. The report will include a description of the work
performed and results of the sampling and analysis. Conclusions and applicable recommendations
will be included in the report. The report will be in a format acceptable to the PHS-EHD and the
CVRWQCB, and will be reviewed and signed by a California Registered Geologist.
4.0. FIELD PROCEDURES
All field procedures will be overseen by, an.AGE representative under the supervision of a California
Registered Geologist.Procedures for the advancement of probe borings,soil-vapor sampling, ground
water sampling, equipment decontamination and sample shipment are outlined below.
4.1. PROBE BORING ADVANCEMENT
Probe borings will be advanced using AGE's van-mounted Geoprobe 5400 direct-push probing unit
equipped with 1.25-inch probing rods. The Geoprobe advances soil probe borings using a hydraulic
or pneumatic hammer to drive soil and ground water sampling tools to specified depths.
4.2. SOIL-VAPOR SAMPLING PROCEDURES
Soil probe borings.proposed for soil-vapor sampling will be advanced to 5 feet bsg. However, total
depths of probe borings will be based on field observations and field screening using an organic soil-
vapor monitor(OVM). Each probe boring will be advanced using a van-mounted Geoprobe 5400
probing unit equipped with 1.125-inch diameter rods. Soil-vapor samples will be collected using a
Geoprobe soil vapor assembly.-
The
ssembly:The vapor sapling assembly consists of an expendable vapor point placed into a point holder at the
bottom of a string of 1-inch diameter hollow drive rods. The assembly will be advanced to the
specified depth and retracted between six inches in order to engage the expendable point into the soil
and expose a column of strata from which soil-vapor can be extracted.
A post run tubing adapter equipped with an O-ring to ensure a vacuum-tight seal will then be
attached to a ''/<-inch diameter, single use, disposable polyethylene tubing. The sampling tube will
then lowered through the center of the hollow drive rods and secured by threading into the
expendable point holder. Above ground, the polyethylene..tubing will be attached to a stainless steel
T-valve. This valve will then be connected to vacuum pump.
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
