The areas around the shop where; soil stains are apparent will also be investigated, 2.0 SHEDESCRIPTION The property is located at 240' last Lou:isrr Avenue (APN #195-2150-05 j, in Lathrop, California. The property is approximately 2.95:acres in size and has a steel structure at' the rear of the P operty, wbich is the office and maintenance building. The area sur- rounding the site i.s mixed residential. farni ng, commercial and heavy industry. The;; topography is essentially fat with the nearest significant geological feature being the- Sart Joaquin. River, anproxiinately one to two (1-2) miles to the west. Interstate: 5 k parallels I'iarhan Road to the west. 3.0 SITE I11STORY The subject property was farmland, or native soil, in the 1930's. It remained vacant until 1972. This property was once. used as the.•Lathrop Garbage Company's office and yard. The steel. 'stnict.ure, at the rear of the property' is the office and maintenance:! nce:F building. An inspection of the building revealed several 55 gallon drums that are filled, ii or partially filled, with what: appears to be oil, waste oil, and possibly solvents. There'F is a parts washer inside the building that presuniably contains parts cleaning solvent. There is some evidence of spillage of oils or solvents in and around the building. Most of the spillage is on concrete and there docs not appear to be any evidence of deliberate disposal of liquids onto the ground. The septic tank that serves the structure may have received solvents as a result'of rising parts or washing hands. a
