Sampling of monitoring wells occurred no less than 24 hours following well
development AGS collected ground water samples from each monitoring well after
I ' purging between three and five well volumes of ground water from each well During
purging, ground water quality parameters were monitored and recorded on the
appropriate well sampling forms Wells were purged until water quality stabilization
occurred Stabilization was determined to have been reached when two consecutive
temperature, pH, and conductivity readings do not vary by more than 10% Purged well
water was containerized and stored on-site in metal 55 gallon drums pending analytical
results
' The pump, hose, and electrical leads were decontaminated before and between each well
purging by washing the exterior with a solution of laboratory grade detergent and
pumping the solution through the pump and hose The exterior of the pump, hose, and
' electrical leads were rinsed with potable water and potable water was pumped through the
pump and hose
' After purging, sampling of each well was conducted using new, clean, dedicated
disposable polyethylene bailers Distilled water was poured into each bailer and a bailer
blank was collected prior to well sampling The bailers were then lowered into the wells
' via dedicated poly cords to collect ground water samples The samples were gently
poured into two 40 ml VOA vials Each VOA vial was immediately sealed, checked for
headspace, labeled with the date, time and location and placed in a cooler containing blue
ice at 4° Celsius The samples were transported under strict chain-of-custody protocol to
GeoAnalytical Laboratories in Modesto, California for analysis Appendix B contains
analytical data and chain-of-custody forms
3.2.3 Laboratory Analysis of Soil Samples
' Soil samples collected for laboratory analysis were stored in a cooler chilled to 4° Celsius
and shipped under strict chain of custody protocol to the analytical laboratory The
' samples were analyzed in Modesto, California by GeoAnalytical Laboratories, a
California State certified analytical laboratory for the following constituents
• TPH - gasoline, Method 5030/LUFT
detection lima 1 0 mg/Kg
• Benzene, Toluene, Ethyl Benzene and Total Xylenes (BTEX), EPA Method 8020
' detection limits 5 0 µg/Kg
American Geological Services Inc
5 g
i CA95DE-029
8
