6.0 CONCLUSIONS
' The following conclusions and recommendations are based on the observations and
analytical data collected to date Site, soil and ground water conditions not discovered or
currently known may cause a change in the opinions presented in this report
Laboratory analysis of ground water
samples indicates the presence of significant levels
' of gasoline and gasoline constituents in water collected from monitoring well MW-1 and
minor concentrations in wells MW-6, MW-8 and MW-9 All other monitoring well
samples indicated non detectable levels for analyzed constituents These data are
' consistent with previous sampling event data
The locations of the newly installed monitoring wells MW-7, MW-8 and MW-9 are
believed to adequately define the lateral and vertical extent of ground water
contamination The levels of constituents found in wells MW-8 and MW-9 are lower
than the levels found within MW-6 which is considered to be at the edge of the ground
' water contaminant plume Subsequent quarterly sampling at MW-9 will confirm whether
detected analytes are related to well installation methodology or representative of low
level ground water contamination
1
7.0 RECOMMENDATIONS
Based upon the results of the additional soil and ground water investigation, and the
results obtained from this quarterly sampling event, AGS believe that the lateral and
vertical extent of gasoline contaminated ground water have been adequately defined
' Monitoring wells MW-2, MW-3, MW-4 and MW-5 have indicated non detectable levels
of constituents throughout their sampling history With the recent installation of
upgradient well MW-7 near the former UST pit, wells MW-2 and MW-3 provide data
that is not deemed significant at this point AGS recommends that approval be granted to
remove these wells from the quarterly monitoring program, and that Western
' Refrigerating be allowed to make arrangements for the proper destruction of these wells
in accordance with California monitoring well standards
' Monitoring wells MW-4 and MW-5 similarly provide data of minor significance to the
investigation AGS recommends that MW-5 be maintained to continue to provide cross
' gradient water quality information, and it is likely to be useful in monitoring remediation
( '
CA95DE-029 American Geological Services, Inc
12
1
