• Collect ground water elevation data accurate to 0 01 feet
i0 Purge and sample six ground water monitoring wells to obtain representative samples
i • Install sampling ports on the ground water supply wells at the site and collect samples
for laboratory analysis
' • Submit all ground water samples to a California State certified analytical laboratory
for analysis of petroleum hydrocarbon constituents
' • Prepare this report summarizing the methodology and analytical data obtained and
making recommendations for further work as warranted
i
i 4.0 METHODOLOGY
' 4.1 Ground Water Sample Collection
On December 21, 1995, the six monitoring wells were purged and sampled Prior to
M purging, each well was measured for depth to water and total depth accurate to within
0 01 feet Each well was then purged with a submersible pump or PVC bailer until a
minimum of three casing volumes of water had been removed and temperature, pH,
' electrical conductivity and dissolved oxygen had stabilized to within 10% of the previous
readings This insured that formational waters were drawn into each well All measured
parameters were recorded on the appropriate field logs and are presented in Appendix B
iTable 1 summarizes the field logs for the measured parameters
The bailer or pump, hose, and electrical leads were decontaminated before and between
' each well purging by washing the exterior with a solution of laboratory grade detergent
The bailer was then scrubbed and the pump was flushed by pumping at least 20 gallons of
' the solution through the pump and hose The exterior of the bailer and pump, hose, and
electrical leads were then rinsed with potable water At least 20 gallons or potable water
was pumped through the pump and hose The bailer and pump were then rinsed with
idistilled water
After purging, sampling of each well was conducted using new, clean, dedicated
disposable polyethylene bailers Distilled water was poured into the bailer used for each
well and a bailer blank was collected prior to well sampling The bailers were then
American Geological Services, Inc
i CA95DE-029
4
