1
4.0 AQUIFER TESTING
Depending upon observed aquifer recharge capabilities, AGS will conduct either a series of slug
' tests or pumping tests on selected monitoring wells These tests will provide data on aquifer
characteristics for plume definition and provide necessary information required to address
remediation system design parameters
' If the recharge rate is low, a series of falling head and rising head slug tests will be conducted on
selected wells If recharge rates are high, pump tests will be conducted using a submersible pump
' to extract ground water from the wells Ground water depth data will be collected using
transducers connected to a data logger The pumping tests will consist of step-drawdown and
constant rate discharge performance tests A constant rate discharge test would be run for 8 to
' 24 hours depending upon the recharge rate of the aquifer Pumped water will be contained and
stored on-site for later remediation or disposal as appropriate
' Pumping test data will be evaluated using conventional aquifer analysis techniques and a variety of
ground water modeling computer programs Drawdown/recovery plots will be prepared along
' with capture radius, and other plots This data will be evaluated and summarized during the
remediation alternatives review portion of the PAR
5.0 TIME SCHEDULE
AGS is prepared to begin work on this project immediately upon approval of this work plan and
receipt of a notice to proceed from Western Refrigerating When all of the field work is
' completed and all analytical data is received, AGS will prepare and submit for review a report of
investigation It is proposed that the report of investigation be due 180 days after approval of this
work plan
1
6.0 REPORTING
At the conclusion of the collection of all pertinent field data and laboratory analyses an
' investigation report will be prepared The report will be prepared under the direction of, and
signed and sealed by a California Registered Geologist, pursuant to the State of California
' Business and Professional Code (Sections 6735, 7835, and 7835 1) This report will meet the
reporting requirements of the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board
' The report will contain appendices of all data and analyses, field notes, observations, tables,
photos, drawings, cross-sections, boring logs, figures, charts or graphs, and other graphical
representations produced during the investigation that are necessary to clarify conclusions The
findings with regard to the existing conditions on the site will be discussed In addition to the on-
site conditions, observations and potential impacts of adjacent facilities/sites will be discussed, if
warranted The report will include an executive summary of the investigation activities and
American Geological Services,Inc.
CA95DE-029
' 12
