1-2 <br /> The remainder of this chapter discusses the site operations and background and the Investiga- <br /> tion objectives Chapter 2 0 describes the specific methodologies used for sample and data <br /> collection The results of the Investigation are summarized in Chapter 3 0 Conclusions and <br /> the Problem Assessment are provided in Chapters 4 0 and 5 0, respectively A closing state- <br /> ment is presented in Chapter 6 0 <br /> 1 1 FACILITY DESCRIPTION <br /> The TCS, Inc site is located in Tracy, San Joaquin County, California, Northwest 114, <br /> Section 27, Township 25, Range 5E , east of MacArthur Drive (Figure 1) The property is <br /> approximately rectangular in shape The northwestern portion of the property is bounded by <br /> MacArthur Drive, to the north the property is bound by the Southern Pacific Railroad, and <br /> on the three remaining sides agricultural properties border the site Across MacArthur Drive <br /> to the west, are vacant and residential properties <br /> 1 2 CURRENT OPERATION <br /> SEPSCO owns the Tracy, California facility and leases it to TCS, Inc TCS, Inc has oper- <br /> ated a commercial cold storage business at this facility (Figure 2) since June 1992 The <br /> property includes approximately 8 acres, and contains approximately 51,000 square feet (ft) <br /> under roof (44,360 ft' utilized for cold storage) The commercial cold storage facility uti- <br /> Sizes an ammonia refrigerant process for the refrigeration of various foodstuffs A limited <br /> amount of dry storage at ambient temperatures is also provided at this site <br /> Two main structures house the refrigeration facilities The first and oldest structure houses <br /> the Engine Room, Dry Storage Area, and Cold Storage Rooms 1 through 6 Cold Storage <br /> Rooms 7 and 8 are in the other main structure A separate wood-framed structure is utilized <br /> as an office <br /> Water is supplied from two wells located on site (Figure 2) These wells are reported to be <br /> between 120 and 180 feet m depth Construction and water level information were sought <br /> but could not be ascertained for these wells <br /> ' 29025 <br /> • <br /> "REALISTIC SOLUTIONS FOR HAZARDOUS WASTE PROBLEMS <br />
