2.2 Scope of Work
' Task 1 - Planning and Permits
• Prepare and submit a project work plan to the San Joaquin County Public Health Services,
Environmental Health Division (PHSIEHD) and the California Regional Water Quality
Control Board(CRWQCB).
• Prepare and submit a site specific Health and Safety Plan (HASP) to the PHSIEHD and the
' CRWQCB.
• Obtain monitoring well abandonment permits.
• Notify Underground Service Alert to locate and mark underground utilities.
' Task 2 - Excavation ofg asoline contaminated soils
• Properly abandon and destroy monitoring wells MW-1, MW-2, MW-3, MW-4 and MW-8 in
accordance with California water well standards.
• Excavate contaminated soils from the vicinity of the former UST.
• Screen soils from the excavation to guide excavation and separate contaminated soils from
uncontaminated soils.
' • Transport contaminated soils to temporary storage area.
• Collect soil samples for analysis from the interior, periphery and bottom of the completed
excavation.
' • Transport soil samples to a California State certified laboratory for analysis of TPH-gasoline
and BTEX compounds.
• Install Oxygen Release Compound in backfill materials to aid aerobic degradation of residual
rcontaminants.
• Backfill and compact excavations, using approved fill materials, to the pre-existing grade.
' Task 3—Additional Soil Investigation
' . Install five potholes using an excavator to attempt to further delineate the lateral boundaries
of contamination.
Collect representative soil samples for laboratory analysis of petroleum hydrocarbons.
Task 4—Soil Aeration
• Obtain approval to conduct on-site aeration of gasoline contaminated soils from the San
Joaquin Valley Unified Air Pollution Control District (APCD).
Spread stockpiled soil into a thin layer to allow contaminants to volatilize in accordance with
APCD regulations.
• Disc soil on a routine basis to optimize remediation rates.
• Monitor soil for reduction of gasoline and gasoline constituents.
American Geological Services, Inc.
CA95nE-o29
4
