Box 388
Stockton, CA 95201-0388
RE: Submission of Case Closure Request information,
Tracy Cold Storage, Tracy, California.
Site Code 505329
Dear Ms. Lagorio,
At your request, American Geological Services is submitting the following information related to
the "No further action" request dated September 7, 1999, submitted on behalf of Western
Refrigerating & Cold Storage Company. The additional information was requested during a recent
telephone conversation and was to include a sensitive receptor survey, a revised site map, and a
table of soil sample analytical data.
Sensitive Receptor Survey
American Geological Services conducted a survey of potential sensitive receptors located within
2,000 feet radially from the site. City of Tracy, and California State Department of Water
Resources files were reviewed to determine the number and location of ground water wells around
the site. Field reconnaissance was performed by AGS personnel to attempt to locate ground water
wells and other sensitive receptor sites within the area of concern.
The City of Tracy supplies potable water to most residences and businesses in the area. No
municipal water supply wells were identified within the boundaries of the area of concern. The
nearest identified municipal well is located at Lincoln Park, approximately 4,000 feet from the
subject site.
Department of Water Resources provided records for 10 additional private water supply wells
located within the general vicinity of the site. Nine of these wells fall outside the boundaries of the
2,000 feet radius, with the one well identified within the boundaries located on the Tracy Cold
Storage site. No Department of Water Resources records were provided for the second water
supply well located at the subject site.
An additional 20 well driller's reports were provided for soil gas monitoring, air sparging, and
piezometer wells located at the Southern Pacific Depot site.
