27 March 2003 -
AGE-NC Project No. 97-0290
Location: San Joaquin County- Environmental Health Department
304 East Weber Avenue,:Third Floor
Stockton, CA 95202
Subject: Office Meeting
MEL BOKIDES PETROLEUM -LODI
501 Lodi Avenue_, Lodi, California
As part of the progression of the soil vapor extraction and air-sparging program at the site, AGE has
requested an local oversight meeting to review data from monitoring events, clarify requirements for
closure and prepare an understanding for closure. The approximate duration of the'meeting will be
one-hour. AGE has submitted the.following recommendations:
• Quarterly ground water.,monitoring/sampling has indicted a general trend of decreasing
concentrations ofhydrocarbons and fuel additives. Operation and monitoring of the SVE/IAS
system has reduced the extraction vapor concentrations to low levels, which are below the
clean-up goal specified in'the CAP for the site. Confirmation soil samples were non-detect for
BTEX and MTBE. A Closure Summary Report should be prepared.
• Upon closure certification, the wells associated with the site should be abandoned in
accordance with San Joaquin County regulations.
Agenda:
REASONS TO CONSIDER SITE CLOSURE
• Age of release
-Degradation of gasoline components
-Limited migration
• Dissolved hydrocarbon plume well defined.- tph/mtbex
• Lack of sensitive water receptors: Closest water well > 2,000 feet from site, current Lodi
ground water plume
• Limited MTBE distribution, mass and low concentrations _
• Remediation has been conducted, hydrocarbon mass has been reduced
• Technologic difficulty of additional significant hydrocarbon mass reduction
