17 October 2000
y
AGF-NC Project No. 98-0450
Pagc 7 of 7
• The most intensely impacted soil appears to be in a silt layer under the former CAST arca at
depths between approximately 20 to 35 feet bsg (VW-1 1).
• The SVF network was installed within the highest petroleum hydrocarbon-impacted soil and
ground water. Ongoing operation of' the SVE/IAS system should result in significant
reductions of hydrocarbon-impact to soil and expectantly to ground water.
• Hydrocarbons were detected in soil-vapor samples collected at the SVE unit at
concentrations considered to be acceptable for successful on-going SVE remediation and the
SVE unit operated over the entire quarter. A total of 1,070 gallons of gasoline were removed
over the first two months of operation.
5.0. RECOMMENDATIONS
Based on the findings of the environmental activities recounted in this report, AGE recommends:
• Continued operation and monitoring of the soil vapor extraction and in-situ air-sparging.
• Continued quarterly ground water monitoring of the existing well network.
6.0. LIMITATIONS
Our professional services were performed using that degree of care and skill ordinarily exercised by
environmental consultants practicing in this or similar localities. The findings were based upon
analytical results provided by an independent laboratory. Evaluation of the geologic conditions at
the site for the purpose of this investigation was made from review of documents provided by the
client to AGE, and a limited number ofavailable data points (soil-vapor samples) and subsurface
conditions may vary away from these data points. No other warranty, expressed or implied, is made
as to the professional recommendations contained in this report.
Adrumeed GeuEnri-onmental.Inc.
