1
' 15 September 2000
AGE-NC Project No. 98-0450
' representative of the dissolved hydrocarbon concentrations in the shallow ground water at the site,
as the wells are screened across the uppermost portion of the ground water table.
3.2. GROUND WATER SAMPLES ANALYTICAL RESULTS
TPH-g was detected in all six wells at concentrations ranging from 200 micrograms per liter(µg/1)
in sample BMW5 to 54,000µg11 in sample BMW4.Excluding sample BMW5,TPH-d concentrations
were detected in the remaining wells at concentrations ranging from 76 µg11 in sample BMW3 to
1 5,:100 µg11 in sample BMW4.
Benzene was detected in all six wells at concentrations ranging from 1.9µgd in BMW5 to 1,600µg/l
' in sample BMW4.The.remaining BTE&X compounds were detected at various concentrations with
the highest concentrations occurring in BMW4 (8,600 µg11 of xylenes).
MTBE concentrations by EPA Method 8020 ranged from below detectable limits in samples BMW3
and MW5 to 870 µg/l in sample BMW4 and by EPA method 8260-modified at concentrations
ranging from below detectable limits in sample BMW3 to 780 µg11 in BMW4. TBA was detected in
' sample MWS at 150 µg/l. TAME, DIPE and ETBE were not detected in any of the ground water
samples.
The laboratory report(MCAI Laboratory I.D.No. 30542 to 30547), Quality Assurance and Quality
Control Data(QA/QC)and chain-of-custody forms are presented in Appendix B. The results of the
analyses are summarized in Tables 2 and 3.
4.0. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS
Based on the data collected during this monitoring period, AGE concludes-
1 • Ground water on the site was flowing toward the south-southwest from the former UST area
with an overall flow direction to the south. The ground water table is nearly flat with a
hydraulic gradient of 0.003 feet/feet.
• The greatest concentration of dissolved hydrocarbons continues to be in the area of well
BMW-4 located in the area of the former UST location. However, TPH-g and various
= -BTE&X compounds were'detected in all monitoring-wells. Y - _
• Excluding well BMW3,MTBE was detected in the ground water wells at concentrations as
' high as 870 µg/l in sample BMW4. TBA was detected in one sample (MW5), however, no
other fuel oxygenates were detected.
' Advanced('eoEnvironnnental,Inc.
1 ' ,
