1
Monitoring Well Instllhtion Report - Chevron Service Station #9-3232
November 20, 1998
CHEMICAL ANALYTICAL RESULTS
A total of 15 soil samples From the bot rags, one composite soil sample from the di ill cuttings, and
three groundwater samples were submitted under chain-of-custody for chemical analysis Analysis
were pei formed by Sequoia Analytical of Sacramento (FLAP #11624) and Redwood City,
California (FLAP #11210) Copies of the Iaboratory reports and chain-of-custody forms are
included in Appendix E Soil chemical analytical data are summarized in Table 1, and
gioundwater chemical analytical data are summarized in Table 2
Chemical Analytical Procedui es
Selected soil and groundwater samples were analyzed for TPHg, BTEX, and MTBE by DHS Luft
Groundwater ,ample,, were also analyzed for the gasoline additives ethanol, tertiaty butyl alcohol
(TBA), MTBE, di-isopropyl ether (DIPS), ethyl tertiary butyl ether (ETRE), and tertiary amyl
methyl ether (TAME) by Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Method 8260 The stockpile
soil sample was analyzed for TPI-Ig and BTEX
Soil Analytical Results
MTBE concentrations were not detected in any of the soil samples analyzed Petioleum
hydrocai bons were not detected in samples from boring MW-1 TPHg and benzene were detected
in four of the 15 soil samples analyzed from boiings MW-2 and MW-3 TPHg concentrations
ranged from 2 94 to 593 ppm The highest concentration of TPHg were detected in the soil
sample collected from well bol mg MW-2 at a sample depth of 50 5 feet bgs Benzene
concentrations were also detected in the same four soil samples at concentiations ranging from
0 184 to 6 44 ppm The highest benzene concentration was detected in the soil Sample collected
fiom well boring MW-2 at 50 5 feet bgs
Groundwater Analytical Results
Groundwater samples from wells MW-1 thiough MW-3 contained elevated TPHg and benzene
concentrations TPHg ranged in concentrations between 1,100(MW-1)and 120,000 (MW-2)ppb
Benzene was detected at concentiations ranging between 13 (MW-1) and 23,000 (MW-2) ppb
MTBE concentrations were not detected in any of three groundwater samples The gasoline
additives ethanol, TBA, DIPS, ETRE, or TAME were not detected in the groundwater samples
analyzed
•
34646101-2 4
