ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS
KELLOGG GARDEN PRODUCTS
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
1) Describe the prevailing wind directions and nearby industrial or populated areas.
2) Do active or abandoned industrial, agricultural, domestic, or groundwater wells exist on the
property? If yes, provide a map showing their location(s). Include available data on the depth of
groundwater and information on aquifers and aquitards identified beneath the property.
3) Describe all site activities which generate stonn'wastewater. Describe the average and maximum
volume of each waste stream discharged as well as combined volume discharge. Describe any
daily or seasonal variations in vola ne and the total discharged. Describe anticipated storm/
wastewater flow trends for the next ten years. is flow anticipated to increase or decrease?
4) Describe the quality of the storm/wastewater. The description should include maximum and
average concentrations of BOD, suspended matter, total nitrogen, electrical conductivity, total
dissolved solids (fixed and volatile),pH, and standard minerals. Describe seasonal variations. If
analytical data is not available, estimates of stone/wastewater quality can be provided with
references.
5) Provide a description of the groundwater in the stormwater pond area, at the bulk material storage
area, and at the blending and curing areas. Groundwater characterization shall include the
following analytical parameters: nitrate, electrical conductivity, total dissolved solids, pH, and
standard minerals.
6) Provide a flow diagram of any storm/wastewater treatment planned. Include a map showing the
locations of all treatment equipment, clarifiers, sumps, or pump stations. Describe procedures to
control contaminants in the stone/wastewater streams and in the stormwater pond.
7) Describe opportunities to reduce, reuse, or recycle storm/wastewater. Also describe the effect on
storm/wastewater quality of recycling activities.
8) Describe the storage/disposal of all domestic wastewater. If septic systems are used for disposal of
domestic wastewater, include descriptions of the septic systems and the planned maintenance of
the systems. The descriptions shall include location, flow rate, size, and construction materials, as
well as leachfield size and location. Have the leachfield(s) ever failed?
9) If improvements to the stormwater pond are planned, provide diagrams and a description of the
planned impoundment, location, size and depth, construction materials, inlet and outlets, depth to
groundwater below the bottom of the pond, and existing or planned groundwater monitoring wells.
Has the stormwater pond ever overflowed?
10) Allowing for two feet of freeboard, what is the approximate storage capacity of the
storm/wastewater pond? Provide a water balance which evaluates the pond's ability to provide
sufficient capacity on a month by month basis. Include monthly evaporation, precipitation, and
irrigation rates as well as monthly discharge volumes. Rainfall shall be based on the 100-year
return period total annual precipitation. Specific information in the analysis should include, at a
minimum, the following: soil types, infiltration rate, low permeability zones and an evaluation of
their continuity, groundwater occurrence, depth to groundwater, groundwater gradient, and
groundwater quality.
