Kellogg Garden Products ECO:LOGIC Engineering
Groundwater Monitoring Well Installation Work Plan KELG04-001
11/10/2004
SURVEYING
The locations of each well and piezometer will be surveyed and located according to the California State Plane
Coordinate System, 1983 horizontal datum. The elevations of the north quadrant of the PVC well casing will
be surveyed to within 1/100" of a foot accuracy relative to NGVD29 or NAVD88. Adjacent ground surface
will also be surveyed for reference.
Care shall be exercised during surveying to avoid introduction of foreign material into the wells. Rod or
receiver bottoms shall be wiped with a chlorine solution prior to setting on well casing for each well.
SOIL SAMPLING
No soil samples are required other than those used to classify the geologic materials penetrated by the
boreholes.
Spoil from drilling will be dispersed at the facility.
WELL SAMPLING
The initial water sample from the wells will be collected 48 hours or longer after development has been
completed. Subsequent well sampling performed pursuant to the Monitoring and Reporting Requirements
(MRPs)of the Waste Discharge Requirements will be collected according to the following procedure. See the
MRP for the frequency of sampling.
When a water sampled is collected, under the MRP, the following measurements will be made:
Depth to Groundwater
Groundwater Elevation(calculated based on depth to groundwater)
Gradient
Gradient Direction
Water samples collected will be submitted to a state certified laboratory for analysis of the following
constituents according to appropriate EPA and approved methods:
pH
Total Dissolved Solids
Total Coliform Organisms
Nitrate as Nitrogen
Total Kjeldal Nitrogen
Standard Minerals'including:
Chloride
Magnesium
Sodium
Total Alkalinity including alkalinity series
Hardness
Calcium
Potassium
Sulfate.
'Standard Minerals to be analyzed in the fourth quarter
Pur in
A minimum of three well volumes will be purged from the well prior to sampling. Purging will be
accomplished by pumping with a portable pump or by manually bailing. Field water quality parameters
7
