Phase 11 Site Investigation
7.3.2 Analytical Results • Phase 11 mg/kg. Two samples contained concentrations of
Investigation total xylenes detected at 460ug/kg and 520 ug/kg.
.,, A total of 26 soil samples and one composite 7.3.2.2 Composite Sample from
sample were submitted for analyses in Agricultural Chemical Mixing
accordance with the above described analytical Areas
program. The results of the analyses performed
`'' on the soil samples are summarized in Table 1 The results of the analyses performed on the
and the locations of the soil borings are shown on composite sample for agricultural chemicals
Plate 3. The results of the analyses for indicate that three of the analytes are present
,., agricultural chemicals performed on the with concentrations detectable above method
composite sample are summarized in Table 2 and reporting limits. Nitrate was detected in the
the locations of the agricultural chemical mixing composite sample at a concentration of 278
areas are shown on Plate 2. Copies of the mg/kg. DDE, a breakdown product of DDT, was
"~ analytical reports are attached as Appendix C detected at a concentration of 33 ug/kg. Diuron, a
preemergent herbicide, was detected with a
7.3.2.1 Soil Samples from AST* Location concentration of 0.37 mg/kg. With these three
bw and Former USTs Location exceptions, all of the remaining analytes
consisting of the organochlorine pesticides,
Two borings were drilled during the initial part of polychlorinated biphenols, organophosphorus
the Phase II Investigation. Two soil samples were pesticides, chlorinated herbicides, and the
submitted from boring SB-1, drilled adjacent to carbamate and urea pesticides included under the
the existing ASTs location, and were analyzed in EPA methods listed above were not present at
accordance with analytical program described detectable concentrations.
+ above. Neither sample contained detectable
concentrations of TPHg,TPHd, or BTEX. Five
samples were submitted from boring SB-2 drilled
at the former location of the two gasoline USTs
and the former AST. None of the five samples
contained detectable concentrations of TPHg or
benzene. Four of the five samples(SB-2-5.0, SB-
2-10.0, SB-2-19.5, and SB-2-34.5) contained
detectable concentrations of TPHd ranging from
81 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg) to 8,800
mg/kg. Toluene was detected in two of the five
samples (SB-2-5.0 and SB-2-19.5) at
concentrations of 6 and 12 micrograms per
kilogram (ug/kg), respectively. Three of the five
samples (SB-2-5.0, SB-2-10.0, SB-2-19.5)
contained detectable concentrations of
ethylbenzene ranging from 5.9 to 140 ug/kg. The
same three samples contained detectable
concentrations of total xylenes ranging from 32 to
200 ug/kg.
`r Five additional borings were advanced during the
second part of the Phase lI investigation.
Nineteen samples were submitted for analyses
Iw from these five borings. None of these samples
contained detectable concentrations of TPHg,
benzene, toluene, or ethylbenzene. Ten of the
samples contained detectable concentrations of
.
