Please find attached a permit application package which proposes to destroy 31
of 35 groundwater monitoring, soil gas monitoring, and remediation wells
installed on behalf of the environmental case at 1426 South Lincoln Street in
Stockton. Jim Barton of the California Regional Water Quality Control Board,
who is the lead agency person overseeing this site's environmental case, has
directed destruction of these wells.
Mr. Barton has requested that the other 4 wells installed on behalf of this
environmental case (MW-6, MW-8, MW-9, and MW-15) be left in-place for use by
another environmental consultant representing a nearby fuel leak case; thus
these wells are not included as part of the well destruction application package.
Stratus is.proposing to overdrill two shallow screened wells (VW-1 and VW-3)
which are located in an area where a `small pocket' of dissolved fuel
contamination remains (near the former UST for this site). Stratus is also
proposing to overdrill 5 soil gas monitoring wells. All of the other site wells are
proposed for destruction by pressure grouting, with overdrilling only of the upper
5-feet of the well materials.
Please review the attached application package & let me know if you have any
questions.
Sincerely,
S
Scott Bittinge RECEIVED
Stratus Environmental, Inc.
(530) 676-2062 FEB 2 3 2011
sbittin er stratusinc.net
9 @ ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH
'r
