Former Dolly Madison Workplan Page 4
January 28, 2000 Project No. 2002-1426-02
Task 3 - Laboratory Analysis
Soil and groundwater samples collected during the investigation will be submitted to a
state-approved analytical laboratory. The samples will be analyzed consistent with the
recommendations in the Tri-regional Board Staff Recommendations for Preliminary
Evaluations and Investigations of Underground Storage Tank Sites.
The soil and groundwater samples will be analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons as
gasoline (TPHG), and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylene isomers (BTEX) using
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) Method 8020 Modified, and for
oxygenates (including Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether [MtBE], Ethyl Tertiary Butyl Ether
[EtBE], Diisopropyl Ether [DIPS]; Tertiary Amyl Methyl Ether [tAME], Tertiary
Butanol, Tertiary Butyl Alcohol [tBA], and 1,2-Dichloroethane (1,2-DCA) using USEPA
Method 8260.
Task 4—Date Evaluation and Report Preparation
Stratus will prepare a final report after the field activities are completed and analytical
results are received. . The final report will document the findings, summarize the
understanding of the contamination problem, and present recommendations The report
will include the following:
• Summary of field activities and results of the boring and well installation,
• Tabular analytical data and copies of certified analytical reports,
• CPT log plots,
• Site and boring location map,
• Figures indicating both the lateral and vertical extent of hydrocarbon impact
(based on analytical results),
• Cross section showing soil classification and stratigraphy, including depth to
groundwater,
• Conclusions and recommendations.
PROJECT SCHEDULE
Following approval of this workplan, Stratus will apply for well permits from PHS/EHD.
Obtaining permits from PHS/EHD may take 2 to 3 weeks. It is anticipated that once all
the permits have been issued, it will take approximately 2 weeks for a drill rig to become
available. Field operations can likely be completed in approximately 3 days. Analytical
reports will be received 1 week after the samples have been submitted for chemical
analyses. The final report documenting the field activities and analytical results can be
j prepared within 4 weeks after receipt of the certified analytical reports.
CA\My Documents\STRATUS\Ibc\Stockton\workplan.doc S77`,4TUS
