I
GROUND ZERO ANALYSIS,INC.
FIELD PROCEDURES FOR
GROUNDWATER MONITORING AND SAMPLING
• Groundwater pH Measurements-Digital pH meter. Calibration: standard pH
solutions of 4, 7, and 10 utilized for daily logged field calibration and/or according
to manufacturer instructions.
• Electrical Conductivity-Electrical conductivity meter. Calibration: factory-
calibrated initially and periodically calibrated against laboratory prepared standard
calibration solution.
• Water Temperature-Mercury or digital thermometers. Calibration: one-time
factory-calibrated.
Laboratory Quality Assurance/Quality Control
Samples are submitted to a State-certified laboratory for chemical .analysis. Established QA/QC
procedures for analytical operations include sample custody procedures, standards of analytical
accuracy, analysis of matrix spikes and method data, and maintenance of control charts to monitor
analytical performance. Organic chemical analyses are performed in conformance with standard
procedures established by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in
"Guidelines Establishing Test Procedures for the Analysis of Pollutants Under the Clean Water
Act" (40 CFR Part 136, October 1984). Laboratories are periodically evaluated through external
performance audits conducted by EPA and DHS using QC labs.
G:\GROUNDZE\QAQC\FLDQM.DOC
