n <br /> COPYENVIRONMENTAL INC 3330 Cameron Park Drive Ste 550 <br /> Cameron Park CoNfornia 95682 <br /> (530)676-6004-Fax (530)676-6005 <br /> July 31, 2002 <br /> U V V Project No 2002-1426-01 <br /> AUG 4 9 2002 <br /> Mr Travis Bryant ENVIRONMENT HEALTH <br /> Interstate Brands Corporation PERMIT/SERVICES <br /> 12 East Armour Boulevard <br /> Kansas City, MO 64111 <br /> Re Second Quarter 2002 Groundwater Monitoring Report for the Former Dolly Madison <br /> Facility, located at 1426 South Lincoln Street, Stockton, California <br /> Dear Mr Bryant <br /> Stratus Environmental, Inc (Stratus) has prepared this second quarter 2002 groundwater <br /> monitoring report for Interstate Brands Corporation (IBC), former Dolly Madison facility, <br /> located at 1426 South Lincoln Street, Stockton, California (Figure 1) This report presents <br /> groundwater elevations measured in the two onsite groundwater monitoring wells, and analytical <br /> results of groundwater samples The site is on a quarterly groundwater monitoring program <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> The site is located approximately 200 feet south of the intersection of Charter Way and South <br /> Lincoln Street in Stockton, California On July 29, 1988, SEMCO of Modesto, California, <br /> observed the removal of a 1,000-gallon underground storage tank (UST) Based on analytical <br /> results of soil samples collected from beneath the former UST, residual hydrocarbons were <br /> present Total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHG) were detected at a concentration of <br /> 95 parts per million (ppm) Benzene, total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel, kerosene, and <br /> motor oil were below laboratory detection limits The approximate former UST location relative <br /> to site structures is shown on Figure 2 <br /> In February 1997, EMCON drilled three soil borings onsite Soil boring B-1 was converted to <br /> vapor extraction well VW-1, and bonngs B-2 and B-3 were converted to groundwater monitoring <br /> wells MW-1 and MW-2, respectively Based on analytical data collected from the soil borings, <br /> soil beneath the site was impacted by petroleum hydrocarbons The highest concentration was <br /> detected in soil boring B-1, which was located beneath the former UST Residual petroleum <br /> hydrocarbons were not detected in the vadose zone (0 to 21 5 feet below ground surface [bgs]), <br /> but were detected in the saturated zone Analytical results of groundwater indicated dissolved <br /> hydrocarbons were detected in monitoring wells MW-1 and MW-2 (EMCON, August 4, 1997) <br /> TPHG was detected in monitoring wells MW-1 and MW-2 at concentrations of 18,000 parts per <br /> billion (ppb) and 220 ppb, respectively Benzene was detected 1n monitoring wells MW-1 and <br /> MW-2 at concentrations of 4,400 and 33 ppb, respectively <br /> P It 8 C\Stockton\Qrtly120021I13C Stockton-2Q02 doc <br />
