C' :EmcOn <br /> 1433 North Market Boulevard • Sacramento Cahforna 95834-1943 • (916)928-3300• Fax(916)928-3341 <br /> • <br /> August 12, 1997 <br /> Project 22605-101 01 <br /> Mr Travis Bryant <br /> Interstate Brands Corporation <br /> 12 East Armour Boulevard <br /> Kansas City, Missouri 64111 <br /> Re Second Quarter 1997 Status Report for the Former Dolly Madison Facility, Located at <br /> 1426 South Lincoln Street, Stockton, California <br /> Dear Mr Bryant <br /> At Interstate Brands Corporation's request, EMCON previously conducted an environmental <br /> investigation and currently performs quarterly groundwater monitoring at the subject site (see <br /> Figure 1) EMCON has prepared this status report on the work conducted during the second quarter <br /> 1997 Groundwater monitoring consists of measuring depths to groundwater, collecting groundwater <br /> samples from the wells for subjective and laboratory analyses, and evaluating the groundwater gradient <br />. and direction of groundwater flow beneath the site <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> The site is located approximately 200 feet south of the intersection of Charter Way and Lincoln <br /> Street in Stockton, California On July 29, 1988, SEMCO of Modesto, California, observed the <br /> removal of a 1,000-gallon underground storage tank (UST) Based on analytical results of soil <br /> samples collected from beneath the former UST, residual hydrocarbons were present Total <br /> petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHG) were detected at a concentration of 95 parts per <br /> million Benzene and total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel,kerosene, and motor oil were below <br /> laboratory detection limits The approximate former UST location relative to site structures is <br /> shown on Figure 2 <br /> In the vicinity of the subject property is a former ARCO Service Station, a Chevron Service <br /> Station, a Texaco Service Station, The Transmission Shop, and a former Colombo Bakery, which <br /> all have had previously or currently have USTs Based on data collected from subsurface <br /> investigations performed at the fomner ARCO Service Station, the Chevron Station, The <br /> Transmission Shop, and the Texaco Service Station (located at the corners of Charter Way and <br /> Lincoln Street), residual and dissolved hydrocarbons have been detected beneath these facilities, <br /> and a L ommu Bled plume exists beneath Charter Way and Lincoln Street The groundwater flow <br /> direction near the intersection has generally been toward the east and northeast The main <br /> W--\N\PJ2\2605\26051010 ICS 97ypa 1 <br />
