Uncontaminated
.. overburden was segregated and stockpiled separately to be used as backfill following completion of the
excavation activities.
Soil containing detectable concentrations of petroleum constituents was excavated and spread uniformly in a
treatment area for land farming treatment. The treatment cell was constructed by first excavating a rectangular
pit 90 feet wide, 140 feet long, and 4 feet deep and stockpiling the excavated material separately for use as
backfill for the contaminated area. The "borrow pit"was then used for treatment of the contaminated material
by shuttling the impacted soil from the stockpile area into the pit using a front loader and spreading the
prepared material into a uniform pad within the excavated area. The treated material was oxygenated and
hydrated in order to promote rapid degradation of petroleum constituents. A total of 40 discreet soil sample
points were collected and composited into 10 individual samples for laboratory analyses in order to demonstrate
+•+ successful treatment of the impacted soil.
TABLE -4
Analytical Results-Soil Treatment Cell Confirmation
07116198
(ppm)
CONSTITUENT TPH-G MTBE BENZENE TOLUENE ETHYLBENZENELEE
NES
_ -•'Ynr... :if '•F'?"•" •Xii'•}:i'?
