FINDINGS
Soil descriptions (lithologies), were determined from field data. Hydrocarbon impact in soil and
groundwater was characterized from field and laboratory analytical data. Laboratory reports for
groundwater analyses, testing methods, laboratory quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC)
reports, and sample chain of custody documentation are presented in Appendix B.
3.1. SOIL PROFILE
A light brown to dark brown, damp, silty clay/sandy clay and a dark brown to black, damp, ashl
charcoal was encountered from the surface to depths of approximately 5 feet bsg. A brown to dark
brown, damp, clay, with high plasticity and trace amounts of medium sand was encountered at
depths of 10 feet bsg. A grey to brown, damp, silty clay, with medium to high plasticity and trace
amounts of dark brown mottling was generally found at 15 feet bsg.A grey to brown, wet, silty clay,
of medium plasticity with trace amounts of dark brown mottling was encountered at depths of 20
feet bsg. Boring logs are included in Appendix A.
3.2. FIELD EVIDENCE OF HYDROCARBON-IMPACTED SOIL AND GROUNDWATER
Organic vapor was detected utilizing a OVK PID in soil samples B1-15', B3-10', and B4-21' at
concentrations as high as 37 ppm,4 ppm,and 1.5 ppm,respectively.Hydrocarbon odor was detected
in the three samples and noted on the boring logs.A strong hydrocarbon odor was noted for sample
B1-W. The liquid sample B2-L collected from the discovered UST also had a strong hydrocarbon
odor_
3.3. RESULTS OF SOIL,GROUNDWATER, AND LIQUID SAMPLE ANALYSIS
Select soil samples from borings B1,B3,and B4 were submitted for analysis for TPH-g,TPH-d,
TPH-mo, BTEX, and chlorinated hydrocarbons. The laboratory results reported petroleum
hydrocarbons TPH-g,TPH-d,and TPH-mo in sample B1-15'at concentrations as high as 57 ppm,
280 ppm, and 360 ppm, respectively. TPH-d and TPH-mo was detected in soil sample 134-21' at
concentrations of 51 ppm and 91 ppm, respectively. BTEX and chlorinated hydrocarbons were not
Advanvat GeoEnvironmento,Inc.
