Soil samples were collected from beneath the
former underground storage tanks and the results are summarized below.
Sample ID TPH-diesel TPH-gas Benzene Toluene Ethylbenzene Xylene MTBE
1640-1-5@14' 71700 N/A <2.5 <Z.5 19 21 <5.0
16404-N @14' <10.0 N/A <0.005 70.005 <0.005 <0.015 <0.01
1640-1-C @14' 710.0 N/A <0.005 <0.005 <0.005 70.015 <0.01
1640-25 @14' N/A 300 <0.25 0.26 <0.25 2.4 <0.5
1640-2-N @14' N/A 71.0 <0,005 70.005 70.005 <0.015 70.01
1640-3-5 @14' N/A 130.0 <0.25 <0.25 0.31 2. 1 <0.5
1640-3-N @14' N/A 1 97.0 1 <0.005 1 <0.005 1 0.008 1 0.031 70.01
Note: All sample results in ppm (mg/kg) . N/A: not analyzed.
Soil Pile (west) was sampled and two of the twelve sample results detected contamination: 1 .2 ppm
TPH-gas and 60 ppm TPH-diesel and 1 .9 ppm TPH-gas and 20 ppm TPH-diesel .
On July 28, 1997, an Unauthorized Release/Contamination Site Report and a Notification of Hazardous
Waste Discharge were filed based on the analytical results of the samples collected on June 19, 1997.
The tank disposal records and the rinseate manifest have not yet been received and should be submitted
immediately.
Please note that adjacent (within approximately 20 feet) to the location of the former Career Aviation
tanks is located the former Airport Fuel Farm site which is addressed 5000 South Airport.
Unfortunately, due to concrete substructures in the area of the former Airport Fuel Farm site, the extent
of possible co-mingling of the contamination between these two sites has not yet been determined.
PHS/EHD suggests that Career Aviation submit an application to the State Water Resources Control
Board Cleanup Fund. An application has been enclosed for this purpose.
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
