(GTI) and has the following comments.
In order to fulfill State Water Resources Control Board, Central Valley Region
(CVRWQCB) requirements for investigation of the risk of contaminant vapor.intrusion to
indoor air, GTI has proposed the advancement of five direct push soil probes at the above
referenced contaminated underground storage tank (UST) site. The probes will be
located along the sides of two onsite buildings that border the former UST location: One
discrete vapor sample will be collected from each probe at a depth of approximately 5.5-
6.5 feet below surface grade (bsg). The vapor samples will be collected with disposable
syringes and immediately analyzed in an onsite mobile lab for volatile organic compounds
by EPA Method 82606. All Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) protocols for
placement of the probes and collecting the vapor samples will be followed.
SJCIEHD approves the work plan with the recommendation that, per DTSC guidance, the
probes be placed as close to the capillary fringe as possible. As the shallow soil is
predominately fine-grained, if vapor samples cannot be collected then soil samples can be
collected and utilized for the evaluation. Please proceed with submittal of a San Joaquin
County Well Permit Application, required $89.00 permit fee and $285.00 permit
processing fee and with scheduling the approved work.
