One groundwater monitoring well was installed down gradient of the former UST
to further define the lateral extent of gasoline contamination in the soil and groundwater.
The well was developed on February 17, 1999 and a groundwater monitoring event was
' performed on February 19, 1999. The groundwater is approximately 11 feet below grade and
was shown to flow generally east northeast. Laboratory analytical data shows the following:
• Both the soil and groundwater environments in the vicinity of the former UST are
impacted by gasoline.
' • Elevated concentrations of contamination extend downgradient in the sand unit between
12 to 16 feet below ground surface.
• Below 16 feet the soil is clean.
• Above 12 feet, only slight concentrations of gasoline occur in the soil.
• MW-2 & 3 are free of contamination. While both MW-1 & 4 contain low to moderate
levels of contamination.
0 MTBE and the other oxygenated fuel compounds were tested for and not found.
1.0 SUBSURFACE INVESTIGATION
1.1 Soil Boring
' One soil boring was advanced into the saturated zone (TD-25') with a truck mounted drilling
rig using a 8.00 inch outside diameter continuous flight hollow stem auger owned and
operated by V&W Drilling (C57# 658786). This borehole was converted into a groundwater
monitoring well as described below. Soil cuttings were underlain and covered with 6-mil
' plastic sheeting.
