1
Geological Technics Inc. Page 3
Sinclair Trucking
' Report-Subsurface Investigation
Project No.320.2
July 21,1999
'
2.0 SITE GEOLOGY & HYDROGEOLOGY
Geology
Based on sediments recovered in the split spoon sampler, the soil profile of the site as
observed in this borehole are summarized below:
■ 0 to 3.5 feet Road base and top soil
■ 3.5 to—11 feet Sandy silt
' ■ 11 to 11.5 feet Clay
■ 11.5 to 16 feet Sand, fine to coarse, gravelly (this unit is similar to the sand unit
observed between±12-16 ft in the other boreholes)
' ■ 16 to 25+ feet Clay, dense, silty,hard
The sediments containing clay fines exhibited varying degrees of plasticity from non-plastic
and even friable to very plastic. The soil below a depth of ten feet was saturated.
' Hydreolog_v.
On Feb 19, 1999, Del-Tech Geotechnical Support personnel measured the four monitoring
' wells for depth to groundwater. The average depth to water was measured to be
approximately 11.21 feet from the top of casing measuring point. The groundwater gradient
and bearing of flow were calculated to be 0.0003 ft/ft, flowing N79°E, respectively. This
hydrologic behavior is consistent with previous groundwater gradients measured at this site.
3.0 SOIL TESTING & GROUNDWATER MONITORING
Soil Testing
Soil samples were tested from five depth intervals for BTEX by method 8020, TPH-G by
' method 8015m, and the five Oxygenated Fuel Compounds (OFCs) by method 8260. The
laboratory data sheets, attached in Appendix A, give the detection limits and test results..
The results showed the following:
' ■ 8.5 to 9 feet low concentrations of BTEX & TPH-G, no OFCs
■ 13.5 to 14 feet elevated concentrations of BTEX & TPH-G, no OFCs
■ 16.5 to 17 feet no BTEX, TPH-G, or OFCs
' ■ 18.5 to 19 feet no BTEX, TPH-G, or OFCs
■ 24 to 24.5 feet no BTEX, TPH-G, or OFCs
' Groundwater Monitodn
The four-groundwater monitoring wells and one domestic well were monitored on Feb 19,
1999. The laboratory data sheets attached in Appendix give the detection limits and test
results. The field logs are attached in Appendix B.
The results showed the following:
■ MW-1 low concentrations of BTEX & TPH-G, no OFCs
' ■ MW-2 no BTEX, TPH-G, or OFCs
■ MW-3 no BTEX, TPH-G, or OFCs
■ MW-4 low concentrations of BTEX & TPH-G, no OFCs
