A total of three groundwater monitoring wells were installed and
one soil boring was advanced to evaluate the vertical and lateral extent of gasoline
range petroleum hydrocarbons. The depth to groundwater was measured and
groundwater samples were collected on June 23, 1995. The groundwater was shown
to flow generally east northeast. Laboratory analytical data has shown that both the
soil and groundwater environments in the vicinity of the former UST are impacted
' by gasoline.
1.0 SUBSURFACE INVESTIGATION
t1.1 Soil Boring
' One soil boring was advanced into the saturated zone (TD-25') with a truck mounted
drilling rig using a 8.00 inch outside diameter continuous flight hollow stem auger
owned and operated by V&W Drilling (C57# 658786). This boring was originally
' intended to be converted into a groundwater monitoring well but field screening
methods suggested that this location was impacted by petroleum hydrocarbons.
Therefore this boring was abandoned by pumping a neat cement grout with a tremie
' pipe and slurry pump. A second boring was drilled further away in the same
general direction in an effort to define the lateral extent. This boring was converted
into a groundwater monitoring well as described below. Soil cuttings were
' underlain and covered with plastic.
