' r4W149tral Tecluucs 19C. Page 7
Sinclair Trucking
Project No.: 1030.2
August 11,2005
sealed with Teflon, capped, labeled and placed in an iced cooler for transport to the
laboratory following Chain of Custody protocol.
' One bottom sample was collected from the excavation in a location determined by GTI and
SJCEHD personnel. Soil was collected by a backhoe and the core sampler was driven into
the bucket, carefully avoiding contact with the backhoe bucket. The 6.0-inch brass liner was
' removed, sealed with Teflon, capped, labeled and placed in an iced cooler for transport to the
laboratory following Chain of Custody protocol.
Four soil samples were collected from the contaminated soil stockpile in locations
determined by GTI and SJCEHD personnel. Approximately two feet of soil was removed by
hand auger and them the core sampler was driven into the chosen stockpile locations
approximately 6 inches beyond the auger hole and retrieved. The 6.0-inch brass liner was
removed, sealed with Teflon, capped, labeled and placed in an iced cooler for transport to the
laboratory following Chain of Custody protocol.
' All non-disposable sampling equipment was decontaminated using a steam cleaner before
and between uses.
' 2.6.3 Soil Sample Analysis
Eight (8) soil samples were submitted to Excelchem Environmental Labs of Roseville,
California for analysis. The laboratory was selected through a bidding process after the work
plan was approved.
Soil samples will be submitted to a State Certified Laboratory for the following analysis:
' 0 Benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene and total xylenes (BTEX) by EPA method 8020/8015
• Gasoline range petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH-G) by EPA method 8020/8015
MTBE by EPA method 8260
A summary of the laboratory analysis is presented as Table 1 of Appendix A. Detection
limits and analytical results are presented in the Laboratory Data Reports of Appendix B. A
' Chain of Custody was completed for all samples collected and tracked to ensure sample
integrity.
2.6.4 Soil Sample Results
' Soil analytical data is summarized in Table 1 of Appendix A. Listed below are the TPH-G
concentrations found at the extents of the excavation:
' Sidewalls
West northwest @ 11 feet 880 mg/kg
Southwest @ 10 feet S.7 mg/kg
North @ 10 feet 800 m
Northeast 12 feet 25 mg/kg
East @ 12 feet 2,300 mg/kg
Bottom
Bottom of excavation @ 13.5 feet 150 mg/kg
