A F "
23 April 1999
AGE-NC Project No. 95-0100
Page 5.of 7
3.2.3. Ground Water Sample Collection and Analysis
Following installation and development of the monitoring-wells, ground water monitoring and
sampling events will be conducted at the site. Ground water samples will be collected from the
proposed monitoring wells and submitted for laboratory analysis. Ground water samples will be "
analyzed for BTEX, TPH-g;'and oxygenating compounds following the protocols presented in
Section 4.5.4. Additionally, monitoring activities will include recording depth to ground water
measurements. Ground water, sample collection procedures are described in Section 4.5.'
3.3. REPORT PREPARATION
Upon completion of field work and receipt of final laboratory analysis, a report will be prepared
presenting the findings of the investigation. The report.will include a description of the work
performed and.results of the sampling and analysis. Conclusions and applicable recommendations
will be included in the report. The report will be in a format acceptable to the PHS=EHD and the
CVRWQCB, and will be reviewed and signed by a California Registered Geologist.
4.0. FIELD PROCEDURES
All field procedures will be overseen by an AGE representative under the supervision of a California
Registered Geologist.Procedures for the advancement of probe borings, soil sampling, ground water
sampling, equipment decontamination and sample"shipment are outlined below.
4.1. MONITORING WELL INSTALLATION PROCEDURES
The monitoring well boring will be completed using hollow-stem auger drilling techniques. Soil
borings will be advanced using a-truck-mounted drill rig equipped with hollow-stem augers. The
boring for monitoring wells be advanced utilizing 8-inch augers. Proposed monitoring well design-
is illustrated in Figures 3.
Following completion of the soil borings' a 2-inch diameter Schedule 40 PVC 0.02=inch slotted well
screen and casing will be installed. A 20-foot section of well screen will be installed from a depth
of approximately 35 feet to.55 feet bsg..The casing, filter pack and well sealing materials will be
placed into the borehole through the interior of the hollow-stem augers. After installing the well
casing, filter pack material consisting of pre-washed#3 Lonestar sand will be added from the bottom
of the borehole to approximately two feet above the screened interval. Following placement of the
filter pack, the well will be surged to assist in settling the filter pack. Additional sand will be added
