Work Plan for Additional Well Installation - December 2000
FRANKLYN COLE PROPERTY (Reich's Grocery)
7505 West Linne Road, Tracy, California
1.0. INTRODUCTION
At the request of Mr. Franklyn Cole,Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (AGE) has prepared the
enclosed work plan for 7505 West Linne Road in Tracy, California(the site). The work plan details
procedures for the installation of additional ground water monitoring wells at the site. The site
setting is illustrated in Figure 1. Structures and well locations are illustrated in Figure 2.
This plan was prepared to assess the methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) impacted ground water.
The site history and a description of previous work performed was presented in the Corrective
Action Plan. A summary of soil remediation at the site was presented in Quarterly Report- June
1998 dated 15 September 1998 and other quarterly reports prepared by AGE.
2.0. SITE LOCATION AND BACKGROUND
The site is located at the northwest corner of the intersection of Chrisman Road and Linne Road in
a flat rural/agricultural area southeast of Tracy, California, in San Joaquin County. Jefferson School
is located catacorner across the intersection, southeast of the site.
2.1. UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANK REMOVAL
Two 1,500-gallon USTs, piping and dispensers were removed from the property in October 1993.
Soil samples collected from beneath the dispenser at a depth of six feet contained total petroleum
hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) and volatile aromatics - benzene, toluene, ethyl
benzene and xylenes (BTEX) were detected at concentrations as high as 48,000 milligram per
kilogram (mg/kg).
2.2. SITE ASSESSMENT AND REMEDIATION
In August 1994 two borings (B 1 and 132) were drilled in the area of the former fuel dispenser island.
TPH-g was detected at concentrations as high as 13,000 mg/kg and hydrocarbons were encountered
to depths of 35 feet below surface grade (bsg).
On 22 February 1995,two additional borings(B3 and 134) were drilled north and south of the former
fuel dispenser island. Low concentrations of volatile aromatics were detected in one sample from
boring B4. Results of the site assessment indicated that impacted soil is present only in the area of
the former dispenser island.
