1
1 04 January 2002
AGE-NC Project No. 95-0100
2.2, GROUND WATER SAMPLING
1
Following well purging, ground water levels in monitoring wells MW-1 MW-2, MW-3, MW-5 and
1 MW-6 were allowed to achieve a minimum of 80 percent recharge of the initial casing water level
prior to sample collection. The water level in well MW-4 did not achieve a minimum of 80 percent
recharge of the initial casing water level and was sampled approximately two hours after the well had
been purged. Ground water samples were collected from the purged wells utilizing the dedicated
1 disposable,polyethylene bailers and three 40-ml volatile organic analysis(VOA)vials containing 0.5
rnl 18%hydrochloric acid as a sample preservative. Care was taken to ensure that visible air bubbles
' were not present'in,the vials after filling and capping.
The samples collected were properly labeled, placed in a chilled container and transported under
chain-of-custddy to McCampbell Analytical,Inc. (MAI), a California Department of Health Services
(DHS)-certified analytical laboratory.
The ground water samples were analyzed for'.
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) in accordance with EPA
lie
Method 8015 Modified;
• Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes (BTEX) and methyl tertiary-butyl ether
1 (MTBE) in accordance with EPA Method 8020 and
• Oxygenated compounds - di-isopropyl ether (DIPS), ethyl tertiary-butyl ether (ETBE),
MTBE, tertiary-amyl methyl ether(TAME) and tertiary butanol (TBA), methanol, ethanol,
ethylene dibromide (EDB) and 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA) in accordance with EPA
Method 8260 Modified.
3.0. FINDINGS
Ground water elevation, flow direction, and gradient were determined from field data collected on
02 November 2001, the contaminant impact to soil and ground water was assessed from the
' laboratory analytical data obtained from samples collected during the well installation and sampling
events.
3.1. GROUND WATER ELEVATION/FLOW DIRECTION AND GRADIENT
1 The depths to ground water in wells MW-1 through MW-6 were measured between 48.31 and 49.37
feet below the tops of the well, casings and the groundwater elevations were calculated to be between
66.62 feet and 67.21 feet above mean sea level(msl) on 02 November 2001. Ground water elevation .
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
