1
•
15 December 2000
AGE-NC Project No. 95-0100
' 3.2. GROUND WATER ANALYTICAL RESULTS
Samples collected from wells DW-2, DW-3 and MW-2 did not contain detectable concentrations
of TPH-g, BTEX, MTBE or other fuel oxygenates during this sampling event. However, BTEX
compounds were detected in ground water samples collected from MW-1, MW-2 and MW-3.
' MTBE was detected in both MW-1 and MW-3 by EPA method 8020 at 1,500 micrograms per liter
(µg11) and 160,ug/l, respectively. MTBE was confirmed in each sample by EPA method 8260m at
concentrations of 1,800µg/l and 170 4g11, respectively. No other fuel oxygenates were detected in
' the samples.
' Analytical results of ground water samples are summarized in Table 2. The laboratory reports (MAI
Laboratory ID 51951 to 51955), quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) data and chain-of-
custody forms are attached In Appendix B.
1
4.0. SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS
Based on the findings of this and previous investigations, AGE concludes the following:
' The ground water flow direction was toward the northwest during this sampling event. The
ground water elevation decreased approximately 0.9 feet between August and November
2000.
' MTBE was only detected in monitoring wells MW-1 and MW-3. The concentrations
exceeded the State of California maximum contaminant level (MCL) of 14 ,ug/l, however,
' the MTBE concentrations increased significantly in well MW-1, near the former UST
system.
' 5.0. RECOMMENDATIONS
' Based on the results of this investigation, AGE recommends that quarterly monitoring be continued.
The next quarterly event should be scheduled for early January 2001.
G.O.
