1
' 15 September 1998
AGE-NC Project No. 95-0100
tPage 4 of 5
' Concentrations of extracted organic vapor measured with the OVM were low compared to the
analytical results from soil-vapor samples.The highest concentration of organic vapor measured with
' the OVM was 940 ppmv, measured during the April sampling event.
' 3.2. MASS OF RECOVERED HYDROCARBONS
The hydrocarbon mass (TPH-g) removed during the operating period was calculated using the
' following equation: M= C•Q•t
where: M =cumulative mass recovered (kg)
' C = soil-vapor concentration (kg/m3)
Q=extraction flow rate (m3/hr)
t= operational period, in hours
The operational time was divided into three time periods. Mass of hydrocarbons removed was based
' on analysis of soil-vapor samples. The mass of extracted hydrocarbons was calculated for each time
period using average hydrocarbon concentrations of influent soil-vapor samples collected and
average air flow rates.
Approximately 96 gallons of gasoline were calculated to have been removed between 25 February
and 28 April 1998; 169 gallons of gasoline were removed between 28 April and 06 June 1998; and
' 108 gallons of gasoline were extracted between 04 June and 30 June 1998. A of total 373 gallons
of hydrocarbons as gasoline were removed from the site. The mass calculations are attached in
Appendix B.
' Concentrations of extracted volatile organics measured with the OVM correspond only roughly to
analytical results obtained from the influent stream soil-vapor samples.
1
4.0. SUMMARY/CONCLUSIONS =
t
Based upon data collected from the site, AGE concludes:
= - -- - - =- - W mow.. _. . .. .
• The highest concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbon soil-vapors-detected were produced
during the third month of the SVE operation.No soil-vapor samples were collected in March
' and May 1998, due to disrupted SVE operation.
• Over the first quarter approximately 373 gallons of gasoline were removed from the site.
Advanced Geo£nvironmental,Inc.
