The analytical results of soil samples from borings B 1 and B2 are summarized
on Table 2. The laboratory report(PanAg Laboratory ID 00317 to 00322) is included as Appendix
' B.
On 22 February 1995,two additional borings, B3 and B4,were drilled north and south of the former
fuel dispenser island by GAS. The only hydrocarbons detected in soil samples collected from the
borings were low concentrations of BTE&X in one sample from boring B4. These results indicated
that hydrocarbon-impacted soil is present only in the immediate area of the former dispenser island.
' *The analytical results from samples collected from borings B3 and B4 indicted that the samples
contained no significant concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons. The analytical results of soil
samples collected from borings B3 and B4 are summarized on Table 2.The laboratory report(PanAg
' Laboratory ID 9502-01461) and chain-of-custody are included as Appendix C.
' 2.6. INSTALLATION OF SOIL VAPOR EXTRACTION WELLS
On 02 October 1995, two soil borings were drilled at the site'under the supervision of AGE. Borings
M VEI and VE2 were advanced to depths of 40 and 35 feet bsg, respectively. Both borings were
completed as soil vapor extraction wells with two 2-inch diameter PVC casings.
' Four soil samples from well VE1 and two from well VE2 were analyzed by Alpha Analytical
p Yt
Laboratory, Inc. (AAL) of Ukiah, California. The maximum concentrations of TP.H-g and benzene
' were detected in a soil sample from well VEI at 15.feet bsg (VE 1-I 5) at concentrations of 16,000
ppm (reported as micrograms per gram) and.4.6 ppm, respectively.
' Toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes were detected in samples from both VEI and VE2 at
concentrations ranging from 0.0087 ppm (ethylbenzene, sample VE2-20) to 2,000 ppm (xylenes,
VEI-15). The analytical results of soil samples collected from VEI and'VE2 are summarized on
' Table 2. The laboratory report (AAL Batch ID 95-1004-005) and chain-of-custody are included in
Appendix D.
1
2.7.', SOIL VAPOR EXTRACTION PILOT TEST
,.
____2.-'7.E—SOIL-VAPOR
' On 18 October 1995, an 8-hour soil vapor extraction (SVE)pilot test was conducted. This pilot test '
. was performed to provide vapor'extraction feasibility data for initiation of a full scale remediation.
system.
