4.0 FINDINGS
4.1 Soil Profile
Pea gravel and backfill material from the UST excavation was encountered in boring B3
' from the surface to approximately 12 feet. Clayey silts were encountered to a depth of
approximately 17 feet in both borings. Poorly sorted gravels were encountered from 17 feet
to approximately 32 feet. A silt lerise was present from approximately 32 to 34 feet and fine-
grained sands were encountered to the bottom of both borings at 35 feet. Ground water was
not encountered during drilling. Borings logs are included in Appendix A.
' 4.2 Laboratory and Field Evidence of Impacted Soil
A total of six soil samples were analyzed for TPH-g and BTE&X. Benzene, toluene and
' xylenes were detected in Boring B4 at a depth of 35 feet at concentrations of 0.007, 0.029
and 0.034 ppm, respectively. The remaining samples analyzed did not indicate the detection
of petroleum Hydrocarbons. No Hydrocarbon odors were noted during drilling, confirming
the non-detection of organic vapors by the PID in any of the samples collected. The
analytical results are summarized on Table 1. The laboratory report and chain-of-custody
are included in Appendix B.
1
.
