The property is referred to as the Traina Property. HL-A's
September 24, 1996 Work Plan(HLA, 1996)was submitted to the San Joaquin County Public Nnalth
Services,Environmental Health Division(S)CEM)and approved by Mr_ Steve.. Samnn_
During li1.A's Phase Il Investigation prrfnrmrri on OctnbPr 21, 1496 subjective evidence of impacted
soil conditions were encountered in the.boring ndvminid at the former UST location. Final
analytical data are not yet available:,but preliminary data indicate that detectable concentrations of
petrolartm bydmrarhons are pre.-mitt in the soil beneath the former UST location. Teichert requested
that 141A perforin an additional Phase II Investigation to assess the lateral and vertical extent of
imparted soil at the firmer UST location. HLA communicated to Mr. Sasson,of the SJCEIID.
Teir..hrrt's m.Iciest For additional field work, SJCEHD indicated that HLA should submit a work pian
adrlendtim, which would receive expedited review and approval. In accordance with this
dismission, the.same driller Mitchell Drilling Environmental will be used and has been scheduled for
November 4 and 5, 1996.
SCOPE OF WORK
Task 1-Soil Borinlzs
To assess the lateral and vertical distribution of imp:tt:tc d Buil,fuw-to eight borings in the area
proximal to the former UST location will be!advanced to variable depths of approximately 35 feet
bgs. The boring locations will be.placed at variable:distances from the former UST pit,and the
analytical data will be used to establish c:oricentr-at;ou gradients within the impacted sail_ Soil
samples will be collected at minimtun 5-fuot intervals and at lithologic boundaries for lithologic
description, volatile organic curupuuud(VOC)sci-jening,and potential laboratory(chemical)
analysis. The samples will be collected using a 2.0-inch(inside diameter)California Modified split
spoon sampler lined with three clean 6-inch long brass tubes. The sampler will he driven with a
140-poruid hammer. The number of blows required to drive the sampler each six-inch interval will
be recorded and used as a qualitative meastur of soil density.
Engineering and
ErrvmrviltiHetial Sovia:s 10265 Rodeingnam Greve,SWte 150.Sacramento,CA 95827 91firW-0793 Fes:(EJ151 3154.50 i:i
