LFR Inc.
2.0 SCOPE OF WORK
The scope of work for this work plan consists of drilling and installing one
groundwater monitoring well, developing and sampling the newly installed well,
submitting the groundwater samples to a state-certified laboratory for analysis, and
preparing a summary report with the results.
3.0 WELL INSTALLATION
3.1 Permit
Before well installation activities begin, a permit to install the groundwater monitoring
well will be obtained from the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
(SJCEHD).
3.2 Utility Locating
Underground Service Alert will be contacted before drilling activities begin. As a
precautionary measure, the boring for the proposed groundwater monitoring well will
be hand angered to a depth of approximately 5 feet bgs to check for utilities at the
location.
3.3 Health and Safety
Field activities will be conducted under the "Health and Safety Plan [HSP] for
Groundwater Well Installation and Sampling Activities at the Tracy Tire Fire Site,"
prepared by LFR and dated February 2003. Personnel engaged in field activities will
be briefed on the contents and procedures of the HSP. Daily safety meetings will be
conducted during field activities to review health and safety procedures.
3.4 Groundwater Monitoring Well Installation and Development
To assess groundwater quality of the upper water-bearing zone downgradient from the
northwestern portion of the Site, one groundwater monitoring well (MW-8) will be
installed. The proposed well location is shown on Figure 2.
The groundwater monitoring well will be installed and developed in accordance with
CCR, Title 27 (State Water Resources Control Board 1987) and the California Well
Standards (California Department of Water Resources 1990) as follows:
• The monitoring well will be eased and constructed to prevent infiltration of
potential surface water into the well boring.
• The sampling interval will be appropriately screened.
wp-MW-08_Instal1-Feb06-fina1-0902506.dm:LFR Page 3
