LFR Inc.
The well will be completed with an above-grade, "stovepipe-type" well box with a
locking cover to protect the integrity of the well. Soil cuttings generated during well
installation activities will be transported to the Tracy Tire Fire Site property for
characterization.
The well will be developed a minimum of 24 hours after installation by bailing,
surging, and/or pumping to remove sediment left in the well during construction and to
enhance the hydraulic communication between the well and surrounding sediments.
Observations of pH, temperature, specific conductance, quantity, and clarity of water
withdrawn will be recorded after each well volume has been purged during
development. The well will be developed until approximately 3 to 10 well casing
volumes are removed or until relatively sediment-free water is produced. At the
completion of well development, a groundwater sample will be collected for laboratory
analysis. Well development purge water will be transferred to the Tracy Tire Fire Site
property and will be disposed of within the stockpile of Class II waste soil located
within the Site.
4.0 GROUNDWATER SAMPLING
Groundwater samples will be collected from the monitoring well in accordance with the
"Work Plan for Groundwater Monitoring Well and Production Well histallation and
Quarterly Groundwater Monitoring at the Tracy Tire Fire Site Royster Tire Facility
Tracy, California," prepared by LFR and dated May 6, 2003.
The collected groundwater samples will be analyzed for the following analytes:
• TPH as diesel and motor oil by EPA Method 8015B
• semivolatile organic compounds by EPA Method 8270C
• volatile organic compounds by EPA Method 8260B
In addition to collection of a groundwater sample from well MW-8, the top of casing
elevation, latitude, and longitude will be surveyed, and depth-to-groundwater
measurements will be recorded at the eight Site monitoring wells (wells MW-1 through
MW-8).
5.0 REPORTING
A well installation summary report will be submitted after the well is installed,
developed, and sampled. The well installation summary report will include the
following information:
• summary of methods and procedures used for drilling the boring and constructing
the monitoring well
wp-MW-09_Install-FebO6-final-0902506.do :LFR Page 5
