4.0 SITE INVESTIGATION PROCEDURES AND SAMPLING PROTOCOLS
r The procedures to be used to complete the proposed scope of work outlined in Section 3.0
1• are provided in this section. The Site Health and Safety Plan for these activities is included
as Appendix A. Quality Assurance/Quality Control procedures that will be implemented and
maintained by Terranext for this scope of work are provided in Appendix B.
4.1 Permits and Clearances
Necessary permits for drilling will be obtained from the San Joaquin County Public Health
LServices - Environmental Health Division (the County) prior to initiating fieldwork. In
addition, Underground Service Alert subscribing companies will be notified of field activities
a minimum of 48 hours prior to drilling activities. Also, prior to drilling, a private utility
j locator will be used to clear the drilling locations.
4
4.2 Soil Boring Advancement and Soil Sampling Procedures
As outlined in Section 3.0, three soil borings will be drilled and soil samples collected at the
locations shown on Figure 2.
The soil borings will be drilled using a truck-mounted drill rig equipped with 8-inch outside
diameter hollow-stem augers. The soil borings will be drilled to the top of the water-bearing
zone, which is anticipated to be approximately 45 feet bgs. Continuous soil cores will be
L collected from each borehole using a 5-foot long core barrel beginning at ground surface and
extending to the total depth of the borehole. Soil samples will be collected directly from the
core barrel at approximate 5-foot intervals beginning at 3 feet bgs and extending to the total
depth of the borehole. Soil samples selected for potential laboratory analysis will be
immediately withdrawn from the sampler and placed in 8-ounce glass jars and sealed with
809-001.wkp/03-06-97/u/keydara/workplan 6
TerraNext
