1.0 INTRODUCTION
LTerranext was retained by Guaranty Federal Bank to perform a Phase I Environmental Site
Assessment (ESA) of the Stockton Savings Bank, Manteca Branch (Property), located at 201
North Main Street in Manteca, California (Figure 1, Site Location Map). The purpose of
this Phase I ESA was to make inquiry into the environmental condition of the Property and
Levaluate the potential environmental liabilities associated with the Property that might be
assumed during a real estate or financial transaction.
The results of the Phase I investigation were presented in a Terranext report dated
January 29, 1997 (entitled: Phase I Environmental Assessment, Stockton Savings Bank,
Manteca Branch). Results indicated there were no apparent environmental concerns from
surrounding sites or from current operations on the Property. However, the 1921 Sanborn
f Fire Insurance (Sanborn) Map identified a tire vulcanization facility on the Property, and the
4. 1941 Sanborn map identified a gas station on the Property. No other environmental concerns
were identified.
L
Therefore, a Phase II investigation is proposed for the purpose of evaluating whether there
have been impacts to site soil and/or ground water resulting from the above mentioned
former site activities.
This document provides a brief site background, the objectives of the proposed investigation,
and descriptions of the field procedures and techniques that will be employed to investigate
the Property.
$09-001.wkp/03-06-97/u/keydaa/workpim 1
TerraNext
