Tank Assessment Page <br />Tank Construction: <br />Shape: Rectangular <br />Tank Name/marking: 1,000 Gal. ConVault <br />Waste Oil Tank <br />Tank age: 22 years old <br />Remaining service life: --18 years <br />Orientation: Horizontal with a 1,000 gallon capacity manufactured by <br />ConVault <br />Location (above/below ground): Above ground storage tank (AST) see <br />Figure 1 for site specific location. <br />Material of construction: The tank is welded steel encased in <br />geomembrane and concrete and rests on concrete support legs. It is <br />designed to hold and store flammable and combustible liquid fuels. <br />Thickness and method used to determine: The steel is 1/8 inch (10 <br />gauge) thick according to product specifications and the Underwriter's <br />Laboratory (UL) tag on the tank. <br />Lining material & thickness (if applicable): Not applicable <br />Corrosion Protection equipment: The tank is wrapped with 30 -mil high <br />density polyethylene to prevent external corrosion. <br />Structural support: The tank has concrete support legs and is located on <br />a concrete pad, surrounded by a concrete curb, situated under a canopy, <br />and surrounded by steel bollards providing protection from vehicles at the <br />location indicated on Figure 2. <br />Other identifying features: The tank exterior is insulated with a minimum <br />of 1/4" thick styrofoam covered by a 30 -mil high density polyethylene <br />geomembrane which provides secondary containment. The <br />geomembrane is covered by 6 inches of concrete reinforced with 1/2 inch <br />rebar to provide two-hour fire protection, ballistic, and vehicle impact <br />protection. <br />The tank does not containing flammable vapors, flammable gases, or <br />liquids that give off flammable vapors; thus, lightning protection (grounding <br />rod) is not required. <br />The tank was delivered new to the site on March 24, 1988 according to <br />the tank manufacturer (ConVault, phone: 800-222-7099). Based on <br />corrosion testing performed by the manufacturer, the 1/8 inch thick steel <br />tank is estimated to have an approximate 40 -year service life.
