0
Based on the soil analytical results (Figures 8 and 9, attached), the extent of some lead contamination in
soil has not been defined. Condor proposes to collect additional samples from around the Grant House, in
front of the Rehabilitation Center on Park Street, behind the Delta Center, and along the former
Warehouse Building. Subsurface soil sample collection from the north side of the Grant House was
impeded by the presence of rocks at approximately 1.5 feet bgs; therefore, soil samples from the
subsurface could not be collected around the PEA sample P8. In order to determine the vertical extent of
lead contamination on the north side of the Grant House, two soil samples from four feet bgs are proposed
in the structure dripline (two feet from the building). A subsurface soil sample from four feet is also
proposed along the southern side of the Grant House as an elevated lead concentration was detected in the
two-foot soil sample. Additionally, soil sample locations approximately 10 feet from the Grant House are
proposed at each side of the house as shown on Figure C, attached. Soil samples from these locations will
be collected at 0 feet, 2 feet, and 4 feet bgs.
Additional samples will also be collected at locations south of the former Warehouse Building, south of
the Rehabilitation Center, and north of the Delta Center. One proposed sample location at the location of
the former Warehouse Building is six feet out from the Warehouse Building to define the lateral extent of
lead-contaminated soil near samples P1 and PI-A. In addition, soil samples will be collected from the
southwestern comer of the former Warehouse Building location. One soil sample location is proposed six
feet north of a Delta Center wall near sample P27-C. Three soil sample locations are proposed for the
south side of the Rehabilitation Center: one in the western flowerbed along the building (samples P20,
P20-A, P20-B, and P20-C were collected in the eastern flowerbed along the building). The other two
proposed locations are approximately six feet from the dripline to determine if lead-contaminated soil
extends beyond the eastern flowerbed. Soil samples will be collected at 0 feet, 2 feet, and 4 feet bgs at
these locations. The proposed soil sample locations are presented on Figures B and C, attached.
The soil gas fieldwork is scheduled to begin on June 28, 2004 and continue for approximately three to
four days. The soil sampling is scheduled for June 30, 2004. The site's neighbors will be notified of the
fieldwork at least seven business days before fieldwork commences.
