SVS-14-6 is located on APN 149-085-14 and is just north of Condor's boring B-13.
' Boring B-13 encountered fat clay from 0-3 feet bgs, sandy silt from 3-9 feet bgs and lean
clay from 9-15 feet bgs.
' AO /OC
All QA/QC samples will be labeled as to be unidentifiable to the lab. Method blanks will
' be collected in the same manner as described above each day of sampling. Trip blanks
will be used each day collected each day of sampling. Summa canisters will be filled
with laboratory grade ultra pure air and analyzed by the laboratory for contaminates. At
' least one duplicate sample will be collected per day in separate sample containers at the
same location and depth as the parent sample.
6.2.3 Organic Sampling
Obtaining organic samples will be accomplished on a parcel by parcel basis. Each parcel
is unique in its historical and current uses, structures and contents necessitating individual
sampling plans for each parcel. The proposed sample points and analysis performed for
each parcel are detailed in Appendix A,Figures 9—28: APN Organic Sampling Plan.
Lead Based Paint (LBP)
Sampling of elevated levels of lead will be conducted with guidance from the DTSC's
Interim Guidance for Evaluating Lead Based Paint and Asbestos-Containing Materials at
' Proposed School Sites(July 23,2001) on all parcels. The soil surrounding the exterior of
each existing and former structure will be analyzed for lead. Four (4) samples will be
collected from the soil at the drip line—one from each side of the building—at 0-6 inches
' bgs (surface). (See Appendix A,Figures 9-28.) If the surface samples are found to
contain lead levels above 255mg/kg,a 2 foot bgs sample will be collected and analyzed
by the lab. Additionally, three 10 foot step out samples will be collected from the
original sample point—two samples will be taken parallel and one perpendicular to the
building wall. All of these samples will be analyzed for lead using EPA Method 6010B.
APN 149-085-17 was the former location of a quadraplex residence. The footprint of this
former structure has been estimated from historic maps and will be sampled at 6 separate
' points as outlined above.
All of the lead lab analysis data will be entered into the DTSC Lead Spread model
(Version 7 or later) and reported in the PEA Report.
Asbestos
' Because many of the structures on the Site were built prior to 1976 they may have been
built with Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM). All samples will be handled in
concordance with SUSD's ACM policy. Samples for ACM's will be collected from the
footprints of formerly heated buildings that have been demolished. These samples will
be collected at the same living space sample points and depths as the LBP samples
PEA Workplan 20
Spanos Elementary School
January 18,2006
