GeoCoggrcaC7"e21u 13 Inc Page 3 <br /> CeoProbe]nstallation Report <br /> Cardoza(Super Stop) <br /> Project No 662 2 <br /> June 12,2001 <br /> ' 2.2 Groundwater Sampling <br /> To investigate the presence of gasoline-range petroleum hydrocarbons in the groundwater at <br /> this site, grab groundwater samples were obtained from each borehole It was proposed that <br /> upon reaching the capillary fringe, a hydropunch-type sampling tool would be advanced 4 <br /> feet into the groundwater and a water sample would be collected This method was <br /> unsuccessfully attempted in the first GeoProbe location GP-9 Silt in the water sample <br /> ' allowed the water to leak past the ball check valve in the micro-bailer lowered down the <br /> drill rods The bailer did not hold enough water to sample by the time it was raised to the <br /> surface <br /> V & W Drilling used 318" tubing and ball check valves to lift the water samples to the <br /> surface instead The samples were carefully poured from the tubing and transferred into <br /> VOA vials The VOA vial were capped, inverted, tapped, and checked for headspace <br /> bubbles The vials were labeled and placed on ice for shipment to the laboratory Clean <br /> surgical gloves were worn at all times in handling of the sample and sampling equipment <br /> ' 3.0 RESULTS OF INVESTIGATION <br /> The analytical results and field observations are discussed below Tabular surnmanes of all <br /> analytical data are included in Appendix A, and the boring logs are included in Appendix B <br /> A site map with monitoring well locations is included as Figure 2 <br /> 3.1 Analytical Results <br /> Soil Sample Analysis <br /> • None of the eight soil samples analyzed contained contaminant concentrations above <br /> the laboratory reporting limits <br /> ' Groundwater Sample Analysis <br /> ' • None of the seven-groundwater samples analyzed contained contaminant <br /> concentrations above the laboratory reporting limits with the exception of GP-9 <br /> This sample contained 0 3 µg/l xylene <br /> ' TaMe 1 in Appendix A is a full summary of all soil and groundwater grab sample analytical <br /> data collected at the site <br /> ' 3.2 Geology and Field Observations <br /> The following section discusses the subjective field observations and geology documented <br /> ' during this investigation based on the interpretations of the field geologist <br /> • The site exhibits sand & clay geology <br /> ❑ The sand units are typically brown at depths of five feet bgs and then changed to <br /> lighter (salt & pepper) color at ten feet bgs The sands range from fine to very <br /> coarse, and occasional silt lenses are encountered with variable iron oxide staining <br /> 1 <br />
